Alcohol use and pregnancy: range of ill effects that can occur, cognitive impairment, stunted growth, low birth weight, facial abnormalities. Correlation and causation: non-drinkers are reported to have higher mortality rates than drinkers- correlation, non-drinkers is a category that may include people who used to drink, sober now.
