In between cultures, the caregiver relationship between siblings is the most common form: adolescents in traditional cultures often have child-care responsibilities. Effects on adolescents: higher self-esteem and well-being, better psychological and physical health, closer relationships with friends and romantic partners, more autonomous and self-reliant.
