Canada (get employment) looks at people aged 25-49 years of age: refugees, mostly from africa and middle east, settled in largest cities in ontario (40%), quebec (20. 1%), alberta (14. 1%), british. Informed by the need to increase: targeted farmers, agricultural workers and female domestic workers from the uk, usa, and northern. Europe (finland, norway, holland, switzerland, france, germany: desirable/preferred immigrants vs. undesirable , desirable = mennonites good character (simple life and pacifism, undesirables = chinese, southern europeans (spain, italy, greece), south asians (cheap migrant workers) Recent immigrants: many children 14 years and younger live with relatives in extended families, most live in large nuclear families, more likely to live in overcrowded housing; less likely to live in lone-parent families. Immigrants parents are less likely to work full-time. Income earrings are below the median family income: racialized immigrant families living in poverty, 71% of all immigrants living in poverty, 90% of them are first generation.
