It will be assumed that the one who will do the changes knows some technical aspects of web development. Most of the
suggestions that will be placed below are things that your site does not have, but the three sample pages have them.
Describe the navigation, is the order correct?
The order is incorrect, lacks certain items and has unnecessary things. Those lacking items are direct links to publisher’s
store and social media widgets for your Google+, Facebook, and Twitter accounts. The contact page should go at the very
end of navigation.
Alternatively, you can remove the recent comments, recent posts, categories, and archives section since if you will add the
other missing widgets mentioned before, all of them will appear as unnecessary clutters. Also, you might want to take
advantage of a customized Google search instead of using the builtin search function of WordPress.
Should have dropdown menu navigation menus?
Yes, it is necessary. It makes it easier for your visitors to look around the site. You should include the links of your stores
that sells your book on the navigation bar. On the other hand, you must integrate your videos and photos link into one. You
can just put them under Multimedia. Also, you can place the contact link at the end of your navigation bar.
What should go on Header of the website, what goes on footer?
The header should have a slideshow banner. The banner should contain slides that showcase the books you sell, the
service you provide, or images that are related to your book’s genre.
With the footer, you do not need to worry about it that much. In case you have other miscellaneous links that you want to
include in your page, you should put it there. However, it is optional.
Is it flooded with information?
The site contains a good amount of information and content, blogging wise. However, when it comes to eCommerce, it lacks
a lot of info. For example, you do not have links to your social media pages. Your Facebook page, Twitter account, and
Google+ page that can help you significantly in marketing.
Also, you should at least add an FAQ page on your ‘About Me’ section. Is the design overall right from customer's perspective?
Again, blog wise, it is okay. When it comes to your site’s theme, it is not. I believe you are using the default Twenty Ten
WordPress theme. Even though simplicity is good, the one you are using has already been overused in the blogging
community. Take note that using a default theme that was introduced in 2010 makes your site appear outdated and
unprofessional. You can choose from a wide array of themes from WordPress. Take your time looking for a theme that suits
your book’s genre.
On the other hand, you must manage how your posts will appear on your landing or index page. Since it shows every recent
post you made, it forces users to scroll down too m
