Types of wireless media: microwave transmission systems -- transmit data via electromagneic waves, used for high-volume, long-distance, line of sight communicaion (transmiter and viewer are in sight of each other) Since earth is curved, line of sight communicaion can only go so far. Satellite transmission systems make use of communicaion satellites. Global posiioning systems: global posiioning system (gps) wireless system that uses satellites to enable users to determine their posiion anywhere on earth, gps is supported by 24 meo satellites that are shared worldwide. Broadcasts posiion using relaive distance and ime to other satellites.
