Researchers are more judgemental, when talking about sexuality people become even more ethnocentric, very private part of our lives, in early anthropology it was malecentered, so most anthropologists were men and werent allowed to talk to women about sexuality. Someone may talk about their sexuality but there may be different culture which leads to not being able to grasp something, Trying to situate sexuality in a cultural context. 3 anthropologists either wrote mini or full ethnographies about sexuality in other cultures. Contextualize this work, 70-80 years ago much more discriminatory. Theories: cultural influential model was very popular during that time period. Proposed that biological theories provided neutral truths about human needs and that human variation in terms of sexuality occurred because socialization influenced the ways in which these biological needs were met.
