High and low art are frames of reference. Shape the way we think of art. The ways we consume and experience art have a large impact on the art itself. High art is distinguished by cultural taste. High art is good and low art is kind of bad . Low art examples include, popular music, folk craft, comic books, wrestling, pop music. High art is for rich people, low art is for poor people. Disneyland = popular culture and low art, yet is very expensive. Institutions are interested in getting younger lower class people into high art. The way of photographing life and playing back in real time. Embraced as a form of low art. Most films were shown for very cheap. People wanted film to be high art. Began to be shown in picture palaces. Film became more respectable, commented on etc. Film start to take on high art and low art distinctions.
