Hospital church of st. cross: intriguing mixture of style, pointed arches, otherwise heavily inspired by english work, wolversey palace, tourmai and purbeck marble, most likely marble supports. Shrine of the three kings: 1180-1190, nicholas of verdun, detailed 3d figures, enamel and gold gilded bronze, top is the house shrine. Shrine of st. wit: late 12th century casings, holes to touch the underside of the coffin, letters to st. wit, shrines were sometimes carried around the town on feast days. St. manchan"s shrine: steep peak, based on irish churches, elongated figures, similar faces. San miniato al monte: compound piers, allows for a diaphragm arch, marble inlays, introduction for the compound pier for the transept arches, 2 large crypts. Mouldings around the windows (12th century feature) flanking arches on the clerestory windows. No clerestory widows in the gallery- vaulting instead. The beginnings and early development of gothic: extreme painting stylization is inspired by greek sculpture.
