Cellular respiration is about 30 percent efficient pf converting glucose into energy. 2 atp from two turns of the krebs cycle. Proteins, complex sugars, and fats can become atp as well (oxidation) These macromolecules enter into different stages of the cell resp. Phosphofructose kinase- converts fructose 6 phosphate into fructose- Excess citrate will send signal for inhibition of phosphofructose kinase. In anaerobic you end up in a fermentation state. Instrad of going from pyruvate into the mitochondria it goes into fermentation state which is still outside the mitochondria. Two types ethanol or lactate- you have different acceptors- instead of oxygen you have sulfate, nitrate or iron. Fluffy bread is caused when ethanol leaves the bread. But eventually converted into ethanol-skip all other steps. You see this process when making bread-breaking of sugars in this step. Not a good state for being in for too long b/c only 2 atp produced. Lactic acid- found in humans and other animals.
