Objective: to determine the genetic composition of a single gene of two individual fruit flys by extracting genomic dna from drosophila melanogaster through polymerase chain reaction. Also, to analyze the genetic makeup of two f2 generation fruit flies by linking the genotype to phenotype using agarose gel electrophoresis. Prediction: i predict the sex of the fly 1 and 2 would be male because they both look smaller in size relative to other flies. I predict that the most bands will show up for polymerase chain reaction (pcr) products because it has the most volume in its well of. 20 l whereas, ladder an control have only 10 l in their wells in gel. Also, the bonds for the 40 l will be thicker than the 20 l because there is more product in the wells therefore more thicker.
