Hyperhidrosis contributes to presence of tinea pedis. Warm, dark, poorly ventilated, moist environments between toes promote fungal growth. Wearing shoes w/o socks creates ideal conditions for fungal infections. Occluded skin poor hygiene, obesity & trauma. Indirect transmission via contaminated surfaces (swimming pool decks, gym change rooms) Saphenous vein grafts for coronary artery bypass are prone to secondary bacterial infections.
