Group 6 erythema multiforme & stevens- johnsons syndrome. Severe & life-threatening forms of em affect mouth, eyes & genitals. Stevens johnson"s syndrome: rare, serious disorder of skin & mucous membrane. Followed by painful red-purplish rash that spreads & blisters. Top layer sheds & begins to heal after several days. Iris w/concentric rings of diff colors: appearance varies with skin, extremities red erythema macula <3 cm, edema & red outer ring, may enlarge into plaques of concentric rings. Steven"s johnson: <10% body surface area, trunk, hemorrhagic bullae- mouth/lips, rupture results in bleeding, fever, may be fatal. Initially develop fever, pneumonia, days later develop red, itchy eyes, blisters in mouth & red macules, bullae on upper trunk, face, scalp, extremities including palm & soles. Lesions progress for 5 days before drying & healing with inflammatory hyper-pigmentations. Life threatening skin disorder characterized by blistering & peeling of skin.
