Through the rise of the internet, social media has rapidly gained popularity, and with free websites comes negative implications. The use of social media, specifically facebook, creates a loss of privacy due to the constant surveillance. Individuals" personal information is freely circulated for economic and social gain without their knowledge: research problem and research objectives. Research problem: through the news and other outlets, the privacy issues that arise within. Facebook are discussed broadly, but not specifically what those issues are. Research objective: i plan to examine the political, social and economic implications of these privacy issues. In which, i will further investigate the existing ways that facebook says they protect citizens, and research the ways in which they can address the existing issues: research questions. Is it more important than maintaining privacy: key concepts and theories. Rq1: contextual integrity as a framework for understanding the privacy implications of recent developments on social media such as facebook (hull, 2010).
