Police-community relations: community and police will work together to identify, avoid and prevent problems and create health connections/communities. Attempts to forge new relationships between police and the communities. We see a number of practices such as foot patrols, collaborations, etc: police walking the streets in the community, foot patrol is a preventative aspect. Preventive patrol has five goals: deterrence of crime, apprehension of criminals, element of satisfying public demands for service, developing of a sense of security and trust amongst community, recover stole property. Community policing as a geographic aspect to it: in particular areas, malls, etc. The same officers will be posted to one area on a continuous basis (get to know the community and vice versa): may increase peoples sense of comfort. Emphasis on reducing response time if the officers are already in the area (contributes to the perception of law enforcement being available).
