DANC 1271 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Lighting Designer, Wav, Reverberation
Document Summary
To eliminate feedback, you must interrupt the feedback loop: Here are a few suggestions for controlling feedback: Change position of the microphone and /or speaker so that the speaker output isn"t feeding directly into the microphone. Keep speakers further forward (ex. closer to audience) than microphones. Turn microphone off when not in use. Equalize the signal, lowering the frequencies which are causing the feedback. Lower the speaker output so the microphone doesn"t pick it up. Avoid aiming speakers directly at reflective surfaces such as walls. Use headset or in-ear monitors instead of speaker monitors. Do not put your hand over the microphone! Do get banged by hands or rubbed on material: shotgun mic, for picking up at a distance, narrow sensitivity zone. Same as for lighting you maintain control of the switch (tape it on" if necessary) Microphones directly in front of speakers will cause feedback. Avoid running lighting and sound cable together if possible.
