Newgate pastoral: a guy who works at the church, the biblical notion of the pastoral, the man and the sheep. Open space, fields, where sheeps graze, world of nurturing, openness, idealizing a country/simple life, idealized space of nature that produces literature, provides opportunity for creativity of culture, music etc. Existentialism does not believe in purpose of essentialism, moment to moment construction. Nothing happens, 2 mean are waiting, 2 dudes show up they talk, they say they are gonna leave, they don"t. Not sequence of event no cause and effect. One character doesn"t do anything to cause anything. One can"t see one can"t speak but there is not explanation, its nonsense. Production(important to recognize diff plays): vivid scene imagery, (buried in dirt) (gun in front of here, just stars doesn"t use it) A lot of bodily control actors must play. They say they are leaving, and they don"t move they stay still (pg 150)
