ENVS 2200 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Transit-Oriented Development, Automobile Dependency
Document Summary
In toronto, there is an extreme amount of car dependency, despite living in the city. The reason behind the fact that toronto has so much congestion in terms of traffic is because everybody still feels the need to own a vehicle. About roughly 80% of urban households without vehicles are located in the central city. (wohl, 1976) part of the major problem is traffic coming in and out of the city from suburban regions. The answer is simple but complicated in the same sense. The people of toronto do not necessarily trust public transportation enough to get them to where they need to be on time.
