Lecture 1 (reflexivity in film: film as form. How is it made: film as production. Who made the film: film as spectatorship. First film duck amuck, warner bros, 1953. Film as spectatorship it was made with young children in mind as the animated character will appeal to most children, this is why actions were focused more than dialogue because young children respond more to action than words. The character behaved in a funny way and most of the humour was slapstick, which is why it would also appeal to children because humour can be a very effective way to reach the target market of young children. The film has two plots. (the murder mystery and the relationship of the two principle characters). The romantic story is told inside the apartment whereas the murder mystery is shown outside the house. Within the apartment, the story is shown in medium shots whereas the shots from outside are in long shot.
