Document Summary

Developed in response to urbanism and the expansion of city life. The rapid pace of urban life and the constant development and movement taking place there seemed to provide an ideal space for revolution. Mechanical or electrical circuit, which takes us back to the beginning, something that revolves or goes around. Relates to films being called motion pictures/movies. Cinema and the city are great disruptors (provoke new movements, ideas, and aesthetic sensibilities in art, culture, and philosophy) Disrupts the production of art through their manipulations of time and space, and the intersection of different classes, cultures, viewpoints, social values, and history. City changes so much that you can have the feeling of (cid:498)having moved without actually going anywhere(cid:499) Both feelings of nostalgia for old spaces and wonder for new ones. Both radical, while undergoing a process of standardization in the production process, in order to make it more coherent to the masses.
