In some institutions nurses have a greater involvement in patient care: social networks are the patterns of relationships that are found in a particular organization. Connections among a group of people and broader environment in which they live or work: social network map: drawing the connections and measuring the strengths of relationships. Relationships between different groups and between different individuals, to what extent can different groups work together: network analysis: allows someone to understand what is going on in terms of power structure in an organization. The importance or the influence of a particular node or group within an network: structural holes: the absence of ties between the parts of the network. This could happen if there is no relationship between groups or people: power brokers: those who have a very significant position within the social network in the organization .
