HLST 2040 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Radiography, Positron
Document Summary
Today s online lecture focused on medical imaging informatics and its history behind digital radiology and the creation of picture archiving and communication systems (pacs) and itemized the benefits of digital radiology to clinicians, patients and hospitals. The purpose of medical imaging informatics is to study and interpret imaging to enhance patient care. During this transition phase, filmless radiology was integrated with pacs, hiss and riss to upgrade conventional radiology rooms for ct, ultrasound and mri for the digital world. Furthermore, one system which i find very useful is the picture archiving and communication systems (pacs). Pacs is divided into two categories: full pacs and mini- Full pacs are when images are processed from ultrasonography (us), magnetic resonance imaging (mri), positron emission tomography (pet), computed tomography (ct), routine radiography and endoscopy. This is very useful because the purpose of pacs is to have convenient access to images which provides economical storage.
