Canadian institute for health: goals - iron triangle -quality- cost - access, triple aim. Better health - population health & prevention. Better care experience and outcome of using health care institutions. Eg patient satisfaction with their hospital stay. Better value cost effectiveness and allocation of resources. Allocation of resources to community-based organization vs. alc beds in hospitals: prevalence and incidence. Prevalence -proportion of a pop who have a specific characteristic in a given period. Incidence- number of new cases per population at risk in a given time period. Hospitals focusing on acute care and not on chronic care. Hospitals are the center of care- everyone goes there even when prob is small, also cause the primary care is not available i. e. physicians. Hospital visits are expensive- bed assigned, expensive equipment used, nurse assigned they all add up to increase the total cost. If long term care not efficient- those patients also turn towards hospital care.
