Those already marginalized are suffering right now. The actors or storytellers are the beneficiaries socially, economically, religiously, etc. Media, corporations, police, policy makers, are all beneficiaries. We are human beings, they are aliens and outsiders. The reading this week looks at the forces that reinforces the boundaries and increasing the distances and differences. Poverty + difference + gender inequality = young folk devils. We consume information quietly and move on. We feel less, the stories become part of us, we take it as everyday business and move on. We have relationships with texts: formal, informal, critical reading, etc. We should try and pose solutions as well. Octavian nothing - m. t anderson (book), at the end they prove that nothing can change a black person and that slaves are slaves. Our ideologies are deeply rooted in history of 1000s of years. The book depicts ideas based on racial discrimination with races being superior to others.
