A persons sense of identity is crucial to their overall sense of benign and they well being. A person needs to be able to notice their own surroundings and be able to articulate and understood their perceptions, feelings and behaviours and where they came from in their personal lives. The black community represents solidarity in the face of oppression from colonizing empires but the term itself does not represent a community"s identity. The term black excludes the diversity of culture, religion, language, origin, etc. The canadian constitution recognizes three groups of aboriginal people: indians (commonly referred to as first nations), metis and inuit. Residential schooling aged 5-15 and live in reserves unable to see parents and must assimilate to a white person. Provincial laws trumpet international laws implemented within provincial legislation.
