Lecture 20, the odyssey book 1 & 2. Priam goes to achilles to get back the body of hector, after achilles has been abusing it for 12 days. Hermes goes with priam, disguised as a soldier, and guides him through the greek camps so that he doesn"t get discovered: he then gets to achilles camp. At achilles camp, priam begins begging and supplicating achilles for the body of hector, and he does this by reminding achilles of his father: achilles cries about his father and about patroklus, while priam cries about hector, and. Achilles ends up accepting the supplication of priam and gives hector back to him. The book ends with hector"s body being brought into troy, and andromache seeing the body. We don"t actually get the mourning ceremonies over the body of hector. Helen states that she wishes paris never brought her to troy.
