The child is raised in corinth: stage 4: the child is told by the oracle at delphi that he will kill his mother and marry his mother. He is horrified and runs away: stage 5: on his journey, he comes across a man in a chariot who will not let him by. He kills him: stage 6: he comes to thebes, solves the sphinx"s riddle and is given the throne.
