Plutarch is a famous biographer born circa 46 - 120 a. d. in the small town of chaeronea, in the greek region known as boetia. He was initiates into the mysteries of the greek god. He had the durt to interpret the auguries of the pythia, because he was the senior of the two priests of apollo and the oracle of delphi. Pythia was a priestess who was credited for her prophecies inspired by apollo, and this kind of prominence was unique for a woman in a male dominated world at that time. Plutarch studied mathematics and philosophy at the academy of athens. He led an active social and civic life and thanks to his writings (230 diferent works, 50 biographies) and lectures plutarch became a celebrity in the roman empire.
