Document Summary

Virtually all shared stories feature all 5 elements of the pentad (agent, scene, purpose, agency, act), but their degree of significance can vary greatly. A sine element may appear in multiple forms in a particular story. Many stories feature multiple agents and multiple scenes, for example. Again, the key question is identifying which are the most significant for a particular narrative or part of a narrative. The value of this type of analysis is twofold. It allows the analyst to see the structure of meaning production in a story and also to differentiate stories based on the elements that are emphasized. Example: titanic scene = ship jack + rose message of titanic: watch out for icebergs love never drowns (better message) The exhibition is a story that is fundamentally concerned with a display of selfhood.
