Document Summary

Callicles" speech is a response to socrates" claim that it is better to suffer an injustice than it is to commit one. Socrates claims that it is better for the soul to suffer injustice rather than to commit injustice. I believe that this statement is wrong for the reason that when suffering an injustice such as your wife being murdered impacts a person emotionally and could cause psychological damage. However, a person committing the murder may not face or suffer the same amount of damage to the soul compared to the person suffering the injustice. I do not believe this argument could have a correct or incorrect answer as a result of the different circumstances involved. However, i do agree with that a person who does not get punished for committing an act of injustice is worse of his portrayal of a person.
