Cousins, uncles - qaum - clan (quraish, banu hasim) Hilf - confederation (oath, weaker clan makes an alliance with stronger ones, or equal strength, help each other as if they were related) People could be adopted to a clan. Bedouin kinship group - how it is structured. Shaikh - and his family, related free families. Elected to that position by all male members of the clan.
