Samson and delilah in the western artistic tradition january 25, 2017. Covered to their necks because you couldn(cid:495)t show skin of biblical features. Viewing the two in terms of northern european appearance therefore blonde. Color red: passion, sex, can also represent prostitution. Outside: when delilah is depicted as a prostitute scene is moved indoors. Red shows between delilah and samson and just between them. Not that many colors except for the background which is (cid:494)red-ish(cid:495) Vine snaking around the tree relating the painting to adam and eve: women betraying men. Samson is old and delilah look young. People looked a lot older so paintings of people show older age. Hint of lovemaking through bare feet and a bed. Trees relate painting to story of adam and eve, showing that women should not be trusted. Uses same tree of where delilah betrays samson as adam and even painting. Become more grander instead of just an intimate scene.
