Think about the different relations to what happens to zhang politically to the children in the game who didn"t have an opportunity to speak until the end. Children were at the heart of the political movement that was taking place during the revolution: child-based revolution. What is the value: zhang is experiencing what this cultural revolution is like and is participating on multiple levels, different ways to look at childhood, perspective of zhang. Zhang decides to read the books in his father"s library and considers that the things he"s being told about china"s political stance may not be the way to think: perspective of privilege. Women vs. men: don"t know how women were involved in the cultural revolution, don"t have a sense of a young woman"s role, most of it takes place in beijing. Images of public and private spaces are different: red land, yellow river.
