Other monarch with an age named after her was queen elizabeth; elizabethan age associated with the renaissance. Youth into experience, a young girl becoming a woman; summer to winter. Book is partly about body transformations; alice is big and then small. Every age is fascinated by the body in a certain way and the victorians were interested primarily in the body of a child. They were fascinated with control of the world (imperialism) and in their own homes (how everyone appeared) There were elaborate dresses with many layers that de ned gender especially with middle class and upper class people. Children in brothels suggest a disregard of children as humans, or of children having rights. !1: applied only to children from poor families.
