This allowed for many soldiers lives to be saved and changed the composition of armies in the future (joshua, ancient rome). The migration of people is a necessary component to the expansion and advancement of a civilization. Some expansions are done through trade and exploration as seen with the sumerians and phoenicians, while others are done by military means as in the case of the romans. Through migration, globalization can take place which allows for the spread of culture, technology and trade goods to neighbouring countries and beyond.
