Individual"s or group"s position within a hierarchical structure. Always understood as relational: understand our position in terms of socioeconomic position in relation to one another. The way we group people in layers/tiers: upper. Represented by an ethic of disinterest: middle. Delaying the gratification for the future: working. Using the body as a mean to some end. Making yourself muscular so that you can carrier heavier objects at work. Different way of thinking about the sources of power (assets) we have in our lives that show our power. Can be located in the body (embodied, corporeal - relating to person"s body) How you walk, talk, dance, eat, drink , wear etc: markers of socioeconomic status, everybody dresses for a specific purpose i. e. hair, model hair vs a mullet. Mullet: gives you a name: heels vs casual shoes. Conspicuous consumption: spending money to publicly display wealth in order to enhance prestige.
