In other words, how are power relations identified in today"s world: not an easy task. Oppression is full of contradictions: thus, the need for new thoughts, new paradigms to make sense of the power. Summary: dr. patricia hill collins suggest we need social change. In order to have social change we need to re-conceptualize power relations: dr. collins advances the ideas that "oppression is full of contradictions" and that we need a different understanding of race, social class and gender relations. She finally argues that we have stereotypes each other into narrow boxes. Thus, our understanding of each other has been clouded by a narrow definition.
