Many people do not notice that some of the privileges they receive may be due to their race or gender. The author creates a list of privileges that she has encountered. The three issues are completely different so the privileges associated will be different. Systemic racism: a system of inequality based on race. Systemic: spread throughout and affects a group as a whole. Dominance: the scale that exists when one person or group has power over another. Men will agree that women are disadvantaged but deny that they are over privileged. Some will deny that they gain advantages because of women"s disadvantages. This denial protects male privilege from being fully acknowledged. This has negatively affected a man"s development as human beings, and society"s development, and the chance that the privilege systems might ever be challenged and changed.
