Embolism blocks to lung areas in vessel not getting blood flow and those areas of lung aren"t helping blood vessel leading to lung and are affected: affect heart function, ex. Restrictive lung tissue disease: reduced lung compliance (stiff lung) Increased work of breathing increased lung o2 demand, leaving less o2 for muscles: reduced tidal volumes (shallow breaths), total lung capacity, vital capacity, residual volume. Increased expiratory flow rates lungs don"t want to expand they shrink back quickly. Scoliosis - rltd: scoliosis is a severe lateral curve in the spine deformation in the chest wall (rib cage) Limit chest movement (cant expand it) reduced lung volumes. Insert rods to straighten it, but it is risky.
