Chapter two: cell physiology: there are plenty of cells and all of them are different. However all cells have three subdivisions: plasma membrane: encloses the cell, nucleus: has the cells genetic material, cytoplasm: portion of the cells interior not occupied but the nucleus but other organelles, cell part, structure, function, plasma. Membrane: lipid bilayer with proteins and small amounts of carbohydrates, nucleus, dna and specialized proteins enclosed by a double layered membrane. Its like this selective barrier between cellular contents and extracellular fluid; controls what goes in and out of the cell. It"s a control center of the cell- provides storage of genetic information ; nuclear. Rod-oval shaped bodies enclosed by two membranes with the inner membrane folded into cristae that project into an interior matrix. Act as energy- producing organelle major sites of atp production; contain enzymes for citric acid cycle and etc. Serve as cellular trucks for transport from nucelues to cytoplasm.
