KINE 2031 Lecture Notes - Lecture 13: Autonomic Nervous System, Quadriceps Femoris Muscle, Air Sacs
Document Summary
There are prime movers: biceps brachii and brachialis, major joint they flex is elbow. Other muscles like forearm muscles involved in flexion of wrist and fingers because they cross elbow contribute to elbow flexion but are not the prime movers! Wrist flexion: prime movers are flexor carpi ulnaris and radialis. Wrist extension: prime movers are extensor carpi ulnaris and radialis longus and brevis. Prime movement of wrist, hitchhiking movement are abduction. 2 muscles prime movers are flexor carpi radialis, extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis. Flexor and extensor contribute equally so get pure abduction or adduction. Trunk muscles are stability and give you nice stable platform for limb movement of upper arm, weight bearing legs, and movement physically. No red arrows means don"t need to know them. These are very strong, extend the spine, contribute to lateral flexion and bit of rotation but not much. Primarily are extensors of spine and help maintain upright stature.
