Chi squares focus on nominal types of data: nominal data is independent groups that are not connected to each other. It"s the lowest level of ordering, like either or situations such as are you a male or female. 2 classi cations of statistical test: parametric statistical tests: for continuous types of data, like interval or ratio. These types of tests don"t really have to re ect a normal distribution curve, and are sometimes called distribution free statistics . This can be used for data where the order doesn"t matter, such as asking students what their favourite co ee is and putting it on a graph. Chi square test: is a non parametric test: we don"t have to worry about whether the distribution is skewed, or even what the distribution looks like. We just need to know for our data what it is, not what it looks like.
