Document Summary
Creating new social links to help behavioural change. Stimulate group processes (help change each other) Offering group walking/running: running room free running. Group settings have a wider reach when compared to individual. Group delivery superior to individual (dishman"s meta-analysis) (cid:1) (cid:1) Estabrooks & carron (1999) examined team building intervention on exercise attendance in older adults. Participants = first time registrants in a seniors fitness program. 1 hour classes, 2 times a week, for 6 weeks total: randomized to. Control group: got standard care of exercise intervention and physical activity class. Attention placebo group: got same amount of attention from instructor but did not get the team building intervention. Team building intervention: team building group was based on strategies from group dynamics. Increased interaction and communication among group members: conclusion: Team building group had the highest return rate to the next program, then the attention placebo group, and finally the control group who had the least attention.
