Health complications: hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar, eye diseases (cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, kidney disease, amputation of limbs (ulcers in the feet or legs, shortens life expectancy. Dice study (diabetes in canada evaluation) found: the medical treatment was not aggressive enough, 50% of canadians do not have their diabetes under control, pre-diabetes. A red flag that needs early screening. Stage where people are developing high blood sugar levels. First signs are: peripheral neuropathy: numbness of toes and feet. Second sign: waist measurement: the waistline will be the cholesterol of the 21st century. Prevention: exercise, healthy diet and lose weight.
