This olympics was historic because it was rome back in ancient times that actually wanted to get rid of the olympics. There was more women involved in these olympics than the previous ones, showing that there was some movement towards being equality being made, but it was still slow. North korea & south korea are going to be playing with a joint hockey team: this poses an issue both for the coach and for the players that are going to be replaced with. Germany: the citizens are not happy with the east and west germany split, because the people there just feel like they are german"s, and want uni cation. The olympics re ect the power dynamic in the world: the rich countries tend to always do better, third world countries, sometimes referred to as peripheral societies, are ignored because they don"t win for the most part.
