KINE 3575 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Biceps, Bicipital Groove, Coracoid Process
Document Summary
Isolate rotator cuff: cause of injury, repetitive overhead, between acromion process, coracoid, collar bone. Fixed bony pieces that don"t move apart from each other: bursa that also sits in there, greater tuberosity comes up and pinches it and grinds it in that little tunnel breaking down the tissues. Find out if it weakness in the tendon or are they impinged: neer"s test, positive if impinged, up in the straight person and taking it up, hawkins- kennedy test, bending it. Long heads of the biceps brachii: two heads with the short head arising from the apex of the coracoid process of the scapula and long head originating from supraglenoid tuberosity of the scapula. Frequently involved in injury because it crosses two joints. Supinates the forearm and flexes the elbow: weak flexor of the shoulder, held firmly in place in intertubercular groove between lesser and greater tubercles.
