KINE 2031 Lecture Notes - Coronary Circulation
Document Summary
Constant exchange between interstitial fluid and the blood of the capillaries. Mediastinum region is where the heart is located. Endocardium is the epithelial lining of the inside of the heart (atria and ventricles) Coronary sinus collects all the venous blood from the heart goes directly into the right atrium. Receive arterial blood through the semilunar valves (as they pool and collect blood, it goes to the coronary arteries) Coronary sulcus marks the division between the aria and ventricles splitting the heart into top and bottom. Interventricular sulci (anterior and posterior) mark the separation of the two ventricles. Apex is the bottom of the heart. Tunica intima is the inner layer of the vessel. Tunica media is the middle, smooth muscle layer. Arterioles are smaller in diameter than arteries, loses the inner layer and external layer, able to constrict and dilate. Capillaries are the smallest and thinnest of the vessels, only intima layer.
