Document Summary
Whether we agree or not is another story we don"t have to agree. We"re too quick trying to get rid of certain factors in society. Sociologist says it"s not about biology but its sociology in the brain and that the brain and body is a product of its environment to have percent. Sociologists are made by things like history, economics etc. Bedermans work of foucault suggests that this is a fluent process and that the body is always changing, gender and society is changing. Sometimes these ideologies take a root in the physical body, which makes them harder to change. Davis is saying that gender is a sociological and biological thing. The difference in her argument she is making is that she"s explicit that certain kinds of identities (white femininity) are based on denial of other people"s femininity. That"s what she"s trying to suggest that in order to have gender for whites they had to take away gender for slaves.
