George betancourt was a senior engineer at northeast utilities; which operates 5 nuclear plants in new england of us and he was fired for not being a team player. Another engineer, george galatis, noticed that there were many safety concerns at one of the plants, him and betancourt pushed and pushed to have it investigated and shut down. Once it did get shut down, they were the whistleblowers and responsible for the plant shutting down and many people losing their jobs. Determining one"s moral responsibilities amid a welter of conflicting demands. Paying the personal costs that may be involved in living to one"s obligations. Topics: the obligations employees have to the firm, company loyalty, and the problem of conflicts of interest. Traditional law of agency: act loyally and in good faith and to carry out all lawful instructions. You are agent to your employer: you promote the employer"s interests.
