Occurs when a person believe themselves to be in a situation where they are at risk of confirming negative stereotypes about one or more of their group identities. Causes anxiety, reduced of enjoyment of the task, etc. In propositional logic we simplify arguments in natural language in order to see their underlying form much as we did with syllogisms. There are three main types of symbol in propositional logic: Sentence letters: these are capital letters p, q, r . that we use to represent atomic (simple) propositions. Connectives: these are ways to represent the connections between sentence letters that let us determine the truth value of the compound proposition: ~, , , Parentheses: we use brackets to indicate the order in which to apply the connectives: {[()]} Propositional logic is unique in that it is truth-functional. All of the sentence letters take only one of two values, true or false.
