It is a specific type of killing: does the state have the power to take away the right of the individual, killing is the most extreme sanction. They have some cutting arguments t make against consequentialism. The fact that someone goes to jail to reform and deter, they must experience something similar. If we put people in jail to reform them, wouldn"t we consider putting people in jail who haven"t committed crimes at all. Ex. sexual assault: if someone sexually assaults someone, how should justice be served to them. Should they be sexually assaulted back: history of capital punishment: standardly you have to be over 18 in countries where capital punishment is practiced. In other countries you don"t have to be over 18 to receive the capital punishment sentence. Some countries, it only applies to males and not females ex.
